AspireOne

OK this is my new ultra-mobile PC...Acer AspireOne...yeah yeah I know that I've mentioned that I'd never buy another Acer PC, but why not give them another chance?

Well the verdict so far? Great!! I love the better and crisper screen resolution compared to my previous EePC and the smooth, sleek feel and loook to the PC. The Wi-fi is fantastic and works very well; good battery life, nearly 3 hrs per use; I had a bit of a problem with the memory card reader, but it's working (will pay attention to it...) so far. Perhaps my only grouse is that the free 'case' is actually a soft plastic sleeve...could have been better if it was closed like the one given with the EeePC. And at RM 1399 the price is not too steep either.

Anyway I love the portability and that is good enough for me...for now!

Another Gone

This definitely not a good year for me and electronic stuff. Must be a jinxed year, but they never said anything about it in them feng shui alamanacs... Let's see:

1. LAN card x2
2. Computer power supply
3. Modem x2
4. Digital camera
5. MP3 player
6. Rechargeable batteries

Latest victim? My ASTRO decoder - keeps coming out with an 'update failure, retrying' message for the last two days. Technician will only come tomorrow. So now having ASTRO withdrawal syndrome. But not half as bad as the Internet withdrawal I had early this year...

Two weeks to go to the end of the year. Just wonder what is next?

Something Positive?

Pre-paid users can check billings

Well, I guess this has been a long time coming. A service which has been available for postpaid subscribers now extended their estranged cousin. Kudos to Jeff Ooi who started the ball rolling by exposing the SMS scam by content providers (with or without the knowledge of service providers) since May this year. It seems that many postpaid subscribers pay little attention to their itemised bills and get scammed indiscriminately; what more the poor prepaid subscribers! After all the hoohah, the efforts finally bear fruit.

Hopefully this is a start of something new...

Mis-Advertisment?

400 SMS for RM 2 alone? Yep, we are talking about that very radio advert peppering our ears since the start of the month...wow it sounded too good to be true? I guess it is...

The radio adverts definitely did not mention the 'surprising' terms and conditions noted in the Hotlink (oops!) website advertisment - so can this be misconstrued as a mis-advertisement? I don't recall the radio adverts mentioning 'Terms and Conditions apply' either. Can the consumer sue if they are not happy?

Blink! Blink!

Lim: 3.5GHz frequency interfering with Measat-2

Oh come on!! I had a good laugh when I read this! Sometimes you do wonder about 'Malaysia Boleh!'

Let me see: maybe we can ask the U.S. Department of Defense's help to shoot down Measat-2 for testing of their anti-satellite weapons!!!
